A Sarasota, Florida resident of 29 years, Jean Joseph Renoux was born in France and was raised in his native country as well as in Tunis, London,  Geneva, Bologna, Washington, DC and New York City. While living in Paris, Jean was assistant to famed film maker Louis Malle. His rather unique and eclectic upbringing has lent him an air of deep passion and knowledge of the destinations to which he brings his guests.

In Sarasota he served as an interior designer for over 25 years, and continued his involvement in the entertainment business as the production designer of two full-length feature films. For over ten years, Jean has been channeling his expertise in design and architecture, knowledge of European and American history and culture, and passion for art into creating lecture courses.

He has been invited to museums nationwide to be a guest speaker of the art, history and architecture of France, including the Corcoran Gallery in Washington, D.C., the High Museum in Atlanta, and the Speed Art Museum in Louisville, Kentucky. He has delivered lectures to university students across the country, including Kent State, FSU, USF, Ringling School of Art and Design, UNC-Asheville.

For the summer semester 1999, Jean accepted the position of fund Professor of Modern Languages at the University of Louisville. He taught two courses (one undergraduate and the other graduate level) in French language, history and culture. In addition, he frequently delivers featured lectures and courses to various social organizations and elder hostels on European history, art and architecture history and environmental "Green" architecture.

He has been a provider of continuing education to more than 9,500 architects and designers for the past twelve years. His continuing education lecture courses are approved by the Florida Board of Architecture & Interior Design, ASID, IIDA and AIA/CES and most states Boards of Architecture & Interior Design. His courses have received a 4.92 average (out of 5) in their evaluation by interior designers and architects. More than 45% of participants who took a seminar with Jean have taken another one. A large portion of them have taken three or more seminars.

For over 10 years, the majority of his seminars to architects and designers have been on the subject of "Green", sustainable and non-toxic architecture and interior design. Over 4,000 professionals have taken one of Jean’s green seminars.

Jean is working at offering similar information to introduce the public at large to this important subject.

For twenty years, he has organized and led tours to Europe to explore the architecture, décor, furniture, art and culture of France, Italy, England, the Netherlands/Belgium, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Berlin- Weimar-Dassau and also Tunisia. These trips are accepted by the Florida Board of Architecture and Interior Design, as well as most State Board of Architecture & Interior Design, ASID, IIDA and AIA/CES as continuing education courses (including HSW). His trips have been successful, as evidenced by the amount of people who have returned with him for a second, third or even fourth tours (30% of all participants), as well as by the abundant testimonial in which they express their satisfaction.

Jean is also working with architects, designers and developers as a consultant on Green architecture and design.
